Some activists today held protests against the alleged failure of the administration in implementation of the court’s order after a lapse of the five years, when the judgement came. Sahil Mehra, a resident of ward no 7 Lakhanpur, addressing media during protest said that a number of animals die on daily bases at Lakhanpur and also become the cause of accidents, but the MC Lakhanpur despite availability of designated cattle shed, letting the animals die in road accidents. “The MC picks dead animals and dumped them in Ravi river, instead the local body should capture the stray animal and keep them in the cattle shed so that road accidents can be avoided. You will find dead animals roads and the railway track, but the MC is not taking the matter seriously despite our repeated demands”, Mehra said, adding that there is a cattle shed, but its land has been encroached. “In 2015, the Court had directed the MC Lakhanpur to vacate the encroachment and take the cattle shed in its possession, unfortunately, after a lapse of five years, no action has been taken by the MC”, he said. The Executive Officer, MC Lakahanpur when contacted by this correspondent said that the MC has recently received the detail of revenue record from the Tehsil office. “Presently, one Kuldeep Kumar has possession over the land, but as per the record action will be taken”, he added. |
