Mehbooba toes Geelani’s line
6/22/2020 11:30:01 PM
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party Chief Mehbooba Mufti who is serving detention under Public Safety Act has once again proved that she is an immature politician. Amidst the outrage over Chinese misadventure along Line of Actual Control (LAC), Mehbooba in a sarcastic tweet taunted the Union Government. “Will Chinese have to apply for domicile rights in J&K or do they get it by default since GOI’s no intrusion into Galwan valley stand has redrawn LAC? Our apprehensions about demographic changes has another dimension to it now”, Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.
Her tweet has not gone well with the nationalist people, who once again stand vindicated; they have always maintained that Mehbooba is a pseudo-nationalist as her leanings have always been towards the separatists and the Pakistan stooges. Mehbooba is talking in the language of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani. He also used to talk about demographic changes and Mehbooba is also toeing the same line. She is the only leader in Kashmir who continues to serve detention under Public Safety Act. Others who were detained after August 5, 2019 have been released and most of them seem to have accepted the change in status-quo.
After the clashes in Eastern Ladakh, National Conference vice-president, and another former J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, didn’t side with the adversary. He cautioned the Kashmiris, who were looking towards China, to surf the internet and look at the plight of Ughyir Muslims in China. Omar also remained in detention post August 5, 2019 but his reactions have not been childish and immature.
Many people believe that Mehbooba is finding it hard to digest that her political career is over and the party which she had built is on the crossroads. Her tweets indicate that if she is released she can create a ruckus by sowing the seeds of discord. People who have been demanding her release should take a look at the venom she is spitting. Her radical approach and the way she handled things in Jammu and Kashmir during her tenure encouraged the Pakistan stooges to call the shots and revive the terrorism in the Valley. Had Mehbooba not gone out of way to appease the separatists and hardliners, situation in Kashmir would not have been so bad.
People, who are looking towards China, should pay attention towards Omar’s advice and if they can’t do so they can leave J&K and go to China. People indulging in anti-national rhetoric won’t be spared. If they have to live here they have to respect their country.
