UDHAMPUR, June 26: With a new surge in Corona cases, ten pregnant women were among 40 new COVID-19 positive cases reported at District Hospital Udhampur today.
Among these ten pregnant women, one lady, who delivered a baby without any surgery at the District Hospital yesterday, was reported positive for COVID-19 today. After the detection of the positive case, entire Labour room services and operation theatre have been temporarily suspended in the hospital and started sanitization process
Apart from this another lady who too delivered a baby in District Hospital Udhampur after a surgery few days back was also declared positive for Corona today.
All the other Corona positive women with pregnancy were at home but after declaration of their Corona positive reports they were isolated from others.
The staff of the District Hospital which attended the pregnant ladies, who delivered babies in the hospital, has been quarantined, the officials said.
This is the highest surge in Corona cases in district Udhampur since the pandemic emerged and different quarters are expressing concern over the hike in number of Corona cases in the district.
“Why the pregnant women visiting the DH are being infected by Corona?” questioned some activists of a social organization.
Many pregnant ladies now fear to visit the District Hospital while certain touts are making attempts to shift such ladies to Jammu.
When contacted Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur DR KC Dogra , said that today 40 new Covid-19 positive cases were found in Udhampur, adding that the Labour room service in District Hospital Udhampur has been suspended till the process of sanitization of is not completed.
