23 fresh positive, 1161 active positive cases and 64 deaths so far in north Kashmir | | | S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report
BANDIPORA, July 16: Out of 490 positive cases, twenty three fresh positive cases were reported today, there are 1161 active positive cases, cumulative cases crossed over 2638, while 64 deaths have occurred so far in north Kashmir as on date. According to the district wise positive cases that are available as on July 16, 2020 (Thursday), In Baramulla district, 18 fresh positive cases that were reported today, there has been an increase in the cumulative cases that have gone up to 1399, and active positive cases that stands at 774, and cumulative recovered cases are 577, while as 48 deaths, next highest after Srinagar that have occurred so far in this district. In Kupwara district, 03 fresh positive cases were reported today, while there is an increase in cumulative cases that have gone up to 818 cases, active positive cases that stands at 282, cumulative recovered are 523 and 13 deaths have occurred so far. In Bandipora district, 02 fresh positive cases reported today, whereas 421 are cumulative cases, 105 are active positive, 421 are cumulative reccovered and 03 deaths have occurred so far. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed today reviewed the measures taken by the district administration to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Sonawari Sub Division. Deputy Commissioner reviewed the steps taken by the administration in Sumbal Sub -Division to contain the spread of coronavirus and it was informed that strict lockdown has been imposed in Sumbal town for 48 hours after service providers were detected COVID positive. The meeting was further informed that under Hifazat Campaign, various departments are sensitizing people about the precautionary measures to be taken to avert the spread of Covid-19 besides intensifying fumigation drives to sanitize public places, distributing hand sanitizers, masks and reading material including brochures, leaflets, regarding do’s and don’ts among the people. The DC said that the use of masks has been made mandatory in the district and directed concerned officers to implement the order strictly on ground and impose fine on the people who refuse to wear masks. He also said the use of masks has become very important in the current scenario besides maintaining other health hygiene and social distancing. While as DC Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed has also directed the officials to allow only those shopkeepers to operate their business who have been tested negative and have attended mandatory training on COVID-19.
