Early Times Report

Jammu, July 16: At the time when world is making advancement in terms of development, in 21st century India, the villagers in Doda district shift the patients in Sedan (Palki) to nearby health centers due to non availability of the roads.
As per the details available with Early Times, due to non availability of roads even after 75 years of Independence, people in rural areas of Chenab valley still have to resort to old traditions of shifting a patient in Palki to reach nearby hospital. The people of Malwana, Punnakkar, the remote areas of district Doda falling in Gundna block in Jammu province are still beret of basic facilities forcing the people to take the critically ill patient on a Palki after walking a long distance to reach the road side- followed by on way journey to nearby hospital.
People informed that due to lack of road connectivity, people here have to face a lot of problems and even after allotting the tenders for road construction- the contractor has yet to start the construction.
People says that many political leaders promises at the time of election and shows big dreams at that time, but those dreams always remain dreams and no one resolves the people's issues and problems added that the road along with non availability of health facilities are the main concern for the locals.
They said that they have sought the road many times but it has always been unfair to the people here since despite everything in place, the construction of the roads is yet to begin and demanded start of immediate construction on Punnakkar -Malwana road.
“It is due to lockdown people are at home and came forward to help us in shifting the patient- otherwise it would have been difficult for them” said angry relative of a patient shifted by the villagers in a sedan.
The people said that the villagers voted for change and gives absolute votes to BJP candidate from Doda is last assembly elections added that they are now regretting to vote for the said candidate since he too makes false promises with them.
“We visited Ex BJP minister several times- but were told to return back with the promise that construction of road will be started shortly- but to our disappointment- nothing was done” said the villagers demanded immediate intervention of the government at highest level and also called upon DC Doda to look into the matter at an earliest possible time.
