SRINAGAR, July 16: Corona Virus continues to claim lives of people in the Kashmir valley as 16 more people fell to the virus in the past 24 hours or so. Following this the COVID-19 death toll in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 222 even though 490 fresh cases of virus came to the fore today. Reports said that Srinagar reported six fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Baramulla five deaths, Anantnag and Kupwara two deaths each and Budgam one death. In Jammu & Kashmir 222 persons have lost their lives to Corona Virus so far. In the Kashmir valley while as 204 deaths have taken place, 18 such deaths have taken place in Jammu division. Reports said that Srinagar reported 259 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Shopian 42 cases, Budgam 34 cases, Rajouri 33 cases, Pulwama 32 cases, Kulgam 21 cases, Baramulla 18 cases, Jammu 14 cases, Ganderbal 11 cases, Samba eight cases, Anantnag six cases, Kupwara and Udhampur three cases each and Bandipora, Kathua & Doda two cases each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 490 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 62 from Jammu division and 428 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 12,156. Also 16 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 109 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 34 from Jammu Division and 75 from Kashmir Division. Out of 12,156 positive cases, 5,488 are active positive, 6,446 have recovered and 222 have died; 18 in Jammu division and 204 in Kashmir division. Out of 4, 81,452 test results available, 4, 69,296 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 23,038 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38,581 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 13 in hospital quarantine, 5,488 in hospital isolation and 43,875 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 34,859 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 2,345 positive cases, 1,724 active positive, 566 recovered, 55 deaths; Baramulla has 1,399 positive cases, 774 active positive, 577 recovered, 48 deaths; Kulgam has 1097 positive cases, 395 active positive, 679 recovered, 23 deaths; Shopian has 972 positive cases, 235 active positive, 720 recovered, 17 deaths; Anantnag district has 939 positive cases, 284 active positive, 638 recovered, 17 deaths. “Kupwara has 818 positive cases, 282 active positive, 523 recovered, 13 deaths; Pulwama has 774 positive cases, 378 active positive, 388 recovered, eight deaths; Budgam has 662 positive cases, 306 active positive, 340 recovered, 16 deaths; Bandipora has 421 positive cases, 105 active positive, 313 recovered, three deaths and Ganderbal has 222 positive cases, 118 active positive, 100 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 553 positive cases, 176 active positive, 366 recovered, 11 deaths; Kathua has 328 positive cases, 97 active positive, 230 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 321 positive cases, 222 active positive, 98 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 307 positive cases, 21 active positive, 285 recovered, one death; Samba has 301 positive cases, 155 active positive, 145 recovered, one death. “Ramban has 277 positive cases, 68 active positive, 209 recovered; Doda has 154 positive cases, 70 active positive, 82 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 148 positive cases, 26 active positive, 121 recovered, one death; Reasi has 60 positive cases, 21 active positive, 39 recovered and Kishtwar has 58 positive cases, 31 active positive, 27 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 12,156 positive cases 3061 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
