Seven years on, Katwalt-Goundi road’s earth work yet to complete | | | ASHWANI SHARMA Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, July 20: Believe it or not, the construction of Katwalt-Goundi road in Panchayat Kossar was started seven years back but the agency has failed to even complete the earth work associated with the project in a satisfactory manner. Sources informed that the road work was started in the year 2013 but nothing significant has been done so far. “Drains at the proposed road are in worst condition and there is nothing which gives it a look of a road,” locals informed. The area has thousands of residents but all of them are suffering in the absence of poor road connectivity. In the year 2013, an initiative from PMGSY was taken and work on the road was started but the concerned department has not even properly leveled the earth. “We paid repeated visits to the offices of the concerned department but nothing was done,” Sunita Devi, Sarpanch Kossar informed. “We also brought the matter into the notice of DC Udhampur but again no substantive action was initiated,” she maintained. When contacted XEN PMGSY Udhampur, Devi Dyal said the earlier project will be first terminated and then fresh tenders will be floated for the road after which the work may again start.
