COVID-19 death toll reaches 254 in JK as 10 more die, record 751 fresh cases reported | Positive cases 14650, active positive 6122, recovered 8274 | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 20: The death toll due to the Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 254 as 10 more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. In the meantime, record 751 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the union territory today. Reports said that Baramulla reported three deaths followed by Srinagar, Kupwara and Pulwama two deaths each and Jammu one death. In the Kashmir valley 234 people have lost their lives due to the Corona Virus while as in Jammu 20 people have died due to the virus. Srinagar tops the list with 63 deaths. Reports said that Srinagar reported 171 cases of COVID-19 followed by Pulwama 111 cases, Budgam 94 cases, Ramban 90 cases, Shopian 62 cases, Baramulla 40 cases, Udhampur 33 cases, Doda 32 cases, Rajouri 23 cases, Kishtwar 22 cases, Kathua 13 cases, Jammu and Reasi 12 cases each, Anantnag 11 cases, Ganderbal 10 cases, Bandipora nine cases, Kupwara three cases, Samba two cases and Poonch one case. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 751 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 240 from Jammu division and 511 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 14,650. Also 10 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and nine from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 463 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 64 from Jammu Division and 399 from Kashmir Division. Out of 14,650 positive cases, 6,122 are active positive, 8,274 have recovered and 254 have died; 20 in Jammu division and 234 in Kashmir division. Out of 5, 18,029 test results available, 5, 03,379 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 31,954 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 37,885 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 13 in hospital quarantine, 6,122 in hospital isolation and 42,732 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 44,948 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 3,070 positive cases, 1,754 active positive, 1,253 recovered, 63 deaths; Baramulla has 1623 positive cases, 664 active positive, 906 recovered, 53 deaths; Shopian has 1165 positive cases, 362 active positive, 784 recovered, 19 deaths; Kulgam has 1147 positive cases, 262 active positive, 861 recovered, 24 deaths; Anantnag district has 1071 positive cases, 345 active positive, 708 recovered, 18 deaths. “Pulwama has 999 positive cases, 471 active positive, 514 recovered, 14 deaths; Kupwara has 918 positive cases, 359 active positive, 544 recovered, 15 deaths; Budgam has 865 positive cases, 416 active positive, 430 recovered, 19 deaths; Bandipora has 464 positive cases, 108 active positive, 351 recovered, five deaths and Ganderbal has 301 positive cases, 174 active positive, 123 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 636 positive cases, 187 active positive, 437 recovered, 12 deaths; Ramban has 408 positive cases, 177 active positive, 231 recovered; Rajouri has 402 positive cases, 281 active positive, 119 recovered, two deaths; Kathua has 373 positive cases, 121 active positive, 251 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 364 positive cases, 64 active positive, 299 recovered, one death. “Samba has 330 positive cases, 153 active positive, 176 recovered, one death; Doda has 193 positive cases, 103 active positive, 88 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 153 positive cases, 27 active positive, 125 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 90 positive cases, 61 active positive, 29 recovered and Reasi has 78 positive cases, 33 active positive, 45 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 14,650 positive cases in J&K, 3,449 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
