Plantation drive organized at MAM college | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 20: A plantation drive was organised at Govt. MAM College, Jammu by the NCC unit during which medicinal plants were planted. This drive is being conducted continuously for the last 10 years with an objective to contribute in preserving and promoting the environment. The very first drive was undertaken with the cultivation of 50 saplings of Amla trees in the college premises. Last year this drive was conducted at village Jaswan(Marh), the village adopted by the NCC unit of the college where the Chief Guest was former MLA Sukhnandan Choudhary. Medicinal trees Insulin tree, Alo vera, Giloy and Neem which are beneficial for the treatment of diabetes, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and also increase immune system of the human body were planted during the drive. The Group commander NCC Jammu Brig. Satish Kumar was chief guest on the occasion. He encouraged cadets to plant more trees and take care of their plantation thereafter. He said that every day should be treated as Vanmahotsav and plants should be grown to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy. Dr. G.S. Rakwal, Principal of the college emphasised on the importance of “Tree plantation drive to maintain ecological balance”. Others present on the occasion were Prof. Nalini Pathania, Prof. Shanawaz. Parveen, Prof. Shabila Wani, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Prof. P. S Thakur, Prof. Namita Jamwal and Non- teaching staff members of the college of Govt. MAM Collage, Jammu.
