| People protest non-issuance of Domicile Certificates in special camp | | |

POONCH, July 20: People staged a protest demonstration against the administration for its failure to deliver Domicile Certificates to them in a Domicile camp organized today in Chhajla village of tehsil Mankot of district Poonch. People alleged that the Tehsil administration Mankot left from Chhajla without issuing domicile certificates. Locals said that they had come to attend the camp from distant places in a hope to get the domicile certificate but the officers of Tehsil administration ended the process abruptly and walked away from here.
When contacted, Tehsildar Mankot Abdul Qayyum, said that around 2000 people had gathered in the camp that we had set up in Chhajla. “In view of the huge rush, we asked people that the domicile certificates will be issued only when they stand in queue and maintain social distancing as part of the SOPs but they did not pay heed to the requests. When it was noticed that people are not ready to follow the procedure then there was no alternative left for us other than to call off the camp,” he said. |
