JKGPA urges Center to protect career of MAs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 27: Jammu Kashmir Government Pharmacist Association President and Member Pharmacy council of India Sushil Sudan urged the Union Government to safeguard the career of over 25,000 Medical Assistants of J&K by bringing them within the ambit of Central Pharmacy Act. In a statement issued here Sushil Sudan said that the Medical Assistants of J&K also fulfill the eligibility criteria for availing a pharmacy license of applying for any Government job exclusively meant for diploma degree holders in pharmacy. Around 25000 Medical Assistants in J&K are well trained in Pharmacy and eligible for pharmacy licenses under JK pharmacy Act. Prior to August 4, 2019 but have now unfortunately been excluded by the pharmacy council of India. This is a sheer discrimination with this bright and promising lot of professionals, Sushil Sudan said. He said that there seems to be no rationale behind exclusion of Medical Assistants from Central Pharmacy law which was made applicable to J&K after October 2019. Discrimination with Medical Assistants who have completed their two year courses (including one year of training course) duty recognized under JK pharmacy Act is unjustifiable and the issue needs to be addressed on a priority basis, Sushil Sudan advocated. It was also stated that Medical Assistant who are in Govt service are not required their registration during govt job that time. At Present Medical Assistants who are in govt service was also not registered by Controller of drug & Food Organization reason not known. Sudan demanded it should be registered as pharmacist so they can apply for license after retirement. |
