Nine fresh deaths push COVID-19 death toll in JK to 321, 470 fresh cases come up

SRINAGAR, July 27: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 321 as nine more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. As 470 fresh cases of virus were reported today the total number of cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 18,390.
Reports said that six COVID-19 deaths took place in Srinagar followed by Pulwama with two deaths and Budgam one death. So far 298 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir with the casualties being 23 in Jammu division. Srinagar district has the highest number of 94 deaths.
Reports said that Srinagar reported 132 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Anantnag 53 cases, Pulwama 38 cases, Jammu 37 cases, Kulgam, Budgam and Kishtwar 23 cases each, Bandipora and Rajouri 20 cases each, Udhampur, Ramban and Doda 15 cases each, Samba 12 cases, Baramulla and Reasi 11 cases each, Kathua 10 cases, Kupwara six cases, Poonch three cases, Ganderbal two cases and Shopian one case.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 470 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 161 from Jammu division and 309 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 18,390. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 474 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 112 from Jammu Division and 362 from Kashmir Division. Out of 18,390 positive cases, 7,667 are active positive, 10,402 have recovered and 321 have died; 23 in Jammu division and 298 in Kashmir division. Out of 5, 92,482 test results available, 5, 74,092 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 57,927 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,645 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in hospital quarantine, 7,667 in hospital isolation and 40,267 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 64,015 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 4,133 positive cases, 2,384 active positive, 1,655 recovered, 94 deaths; Baramulla has 1,784 positive cases, 553 active positive, 1,168 recovered, 63 deaths; Kulgam has 1,468 positive cases, 458 active positive, 984 recovered, 26 deaths; Shopian has 1,391 positive cases, 437 active positive, 934 recovered, 20 deaths; Pulwama has 1,257 positive cases, 617 active positive, 621 recovered, 19 deaths.
“Anantnag district has 1,229 positive cases, 284 active positive, 924 recovered, 21 deaths; Budgam has 1151 positive cases, 478 active positive, 650 recovered, 23 deaths; Kupwara has 1,041 positive cases, 295 active positive, 729 recovered, 17 deaths; Bandipora has 652 positive cases, 225 active positive, 418 recovered, nine deaths and Ganderbal has 351 positive cases, 146 active positive, 199 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 897 positive cases, 387 active positive, 495 recovered, 15 deaths; Rajouri has 577 positive cases, 395 active positive, 180 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 502 positive cases, 250 active positive, 252 recovered; Kathua has 475 positive cases, 159 active positive, 315 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 409 positive cases, 109 active positive, 299 recovered, one death.
“Samba has 386 positive cases, 173 active positive, 212 recovered, one death; while Doda has 257 positive cases, 131 active positive, 124 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 187 positive cases, 49 active positive, 137 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 129 positive cases, 78 active positive, 51 recovered and Reasi has 114 positive cases, 59 active positive, 55 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 18,390 positive cases in J&K, 4,056 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
