Daily wagers protest moves to privatize Govt departments | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 27: In protest against the privatization of government departments, the daily wagers working in different departments held a protest demonstration in district headquarters of Jammu, Udampur, Reasi, Doda and Poonch under the banner of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. The protest was part of nationwide call, as all over the country central as well state governments are planning to privatize the government departments which will reduce the avenues of permanent employment and thousands will become jobless. Protesters said that in the last 25 years no post has been advertised for regular employment in J&K and the in some departments, particularly, PHE and PDD more than 50% employees are working as daily wagers without any proper salary head while wages are also lying pending. They said that thousands of new tube wells and electrical infrastructure was created by the Govt from the last so many years but no proper provisions were made for manpower deployment. The PHE Workers Welfare Association Daily Wagers Wing president Ravi Hans said that they have sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister and have appealed to him for giving direction to J&K government to initiate the regularization process for the daily wagers those who are working for the last so many years in a phased manner as per the list prepared in 2014 and urged him that in first phase the daily wagers those who are working prior to 2005 be regularized in all the departments and salary head provisions be made for regular disbursement of wages. |
