Ensure welfare schemes reach downtrodden, deserving people’, LG tells officials | | | eaRLY TIMES rEPORT
Srinagar, Aug 18: The Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha has directed officials here in the union territory to ensure that the benefit of all development and welfare schemes percolate to the downtrodden and deserving segments of the society. Sources told early times that the LG in his visit to the Ganderbal District of Kashmir has asked the officials to work in tandem to provide all services to the people at their door-step and ensure no eligible person was left out from the government welfare schemes. “Efforts should be made to inform the masses at the village-level about the public welfare schemes run by the Centre and state government” the LG has said. LG is taking keen interest towards making sure that the benefit of all development and welfare schemes could percolate to the downtrodden and deserving segments of the society in Jammu and Kashmir, sources maintained. Sources said that advancement of education, health and employment sectors are the main focus of the Sinha led government. It is to mention here that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government in the Centre had already formed a Group of Ministers (GoM) to prepare a blueprint of development and Job creation for Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Top members of the group were Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dr Jitender Singh The group met several times to discuss the development of Kashmir and its youth. “Yes the group of ministers had already presented its blueprint to the government regarding the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir. Besides, they had suggested a slew of programmes and schemes aimed at boosting employment avenues for young people in Jammu and Kashmir,” the official sources said. Sources said that the group was asked to prepare a proposal on how Law Ministry Information Technology Ministry, Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Ministry, Ministry of Rural Development along with Petroleum & Natural Gas Ministry and Steel Ministry can contribute towards J&K’s development. Sources said that the skill development of youth was one of the key focus areas of this group.
