SRINAGAR, Aug 18: The COVID-19 death toll in Jammu & Kashmir reached 561 as 13 more people died due to virus in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, 434 fresh cases were reported today while as 590 more patients were discharged from hospitals today. Anantnag reported four fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by three deaths each in Srinagar, Budgam and Kupwara districts. So far 520 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 41. Srinagar has highest number of casualties with 177 deaths. Srinagar and Kupwara reported 66 COVID-19 cases followed Bandipora 59 cases, Anantnag 42 cases, Baramulla 37 cases, Jammu 28 cases, Pulwama 27 cases, Ganderbal 24 cases, Kulgam 16 cases, Reasi 14 cases, Udhampur 13 cases, Samba 12 cases, Budgam six cases, Ramban five cases, Doda and Kishtwar four cases each, Shopian, Kathua and Poonch three cases each and Rajouri two cases. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 434 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 88 from Jammu division and 346 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 29,326. Also 13 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 590 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 110 from Jammu Division and 480 from Kashmir Division. Out of 29,326 positive cases, 6,879 are active positive, 21,886 have recovered and 561 have died; 41 in Jammu division and 520 in Kashmir division. Out of 8, 11,167 test results available, 7, 81,841 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 4, 18,363 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,307 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6,879 in isolation and 44,529 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 24,087 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 7,026 positive cases, 1,396 active positive, 5,453 recovered, 177 deaths; Baramulla has 2,475 positive cases, 642 active positive, 1,745 recovered, 88 deaths; Pulwama has 2,122 positive cases, 431 active positive cases, 1,651 recovered, 40 deaths; Anantnag has 1,857 positive cases, 358 active positive, 1,456 recovered, 43 deaths; Budgam has 1,834 positive cases, 490 active positive, 1,300 recovered, 44 deaths. “Kulgam has 1,728 positive cases, 210 active positive, 1,487 recovered, 31 deaths; Kupwara has 1,637 positive cases, 467 active positive, 1,134 recovered, 36 deaths; Shopian has 1,579 positive cases, 96 active positive, 1,458 recovered, 25 deaths; Bandipora has 1,535 positive cases, 762 active positive, 751 recovered, 22 deaths and Ganderbal has 987 positive cases, 463 active positive, 510 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,033 positive cases, 739 active positive, 1265 recovered, 29 deaths; Rajouri has 790 positive cases, 97 active positive, 690 recovered, three deaths; Kathua has 677 positive cases, 105 active positive, 571 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 662 positive cases, 103 active positive, 557 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 629 positive cases, 27 active positive, 601 recovered, one death. “Samba has 589 positive cases, 175 active positive, 413 recovered, one death; Doda has 347 positive cases, 46 active positive, 299 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 332 positive cases, 75 active positive, 255 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 302 positive cases, 175 active positive, 127 recovered and Kishtwar has 185 positive cases, 22 active positive, 163 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 29,326 positive cases in J&K, 5,604 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
