SRINAGAR, Aug 20: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir is almost 76 percent as 728 more virus affected patients were discharged from various hospitals today. Furthermore, 683 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported today while as six more deaths took place in past 24 hours. Srinagar reported 165 fresh cases of virus followed by Bandipora 113 cases, Jammu and Pulwama 59 cases each, Budgam 52 cases, Kupwara 42 cases, Anantnag and Ganderbal 41 cases each, Shopian 28 cases, Baramulla 22 cases, Udhampur 16 cases, Kathua 14 cases, Samba nine cases, Udhampur eight cases, Rajouri seven cases, Kulgam six cases, Reasi four cases, Doda and Poonch two cases each and Ramban one case. Srinagar reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death each in Baramulla, Pulwama and Budgam districts. So far 578 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Jammu & Kashmir. While 537 deaths have taken place in Kashmir 41 such deaths have taken place in Jammu division. Srinagar has highest number of casualties with 185 deaths. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 683 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 114 from Jammu division and 569 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 30,717. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 728 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 117 from Jammu Division and 611 from Kashmir Division. Out of 30,717 positive cases, 6,914 are active positive, 23,225 have recovered and 578 have died; 41 in Jammu division and 537 in Kashmir division. Out of 8, 33,403 test results available, 8, 02,686 samples have been tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 4, 23,481 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 41,798 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6,914 in isolation and 44,503 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 29,688 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 7,412 positive cases, 1,264 active positive, 5,963 recovered, 185 deaths; Baramulla has 2,535 positive cases, 558 active positive, 1,887 recovered, 90 deaths; Pulwama has 2,205 positive cases, 398 active positive, 1,766 recovered, 41 deaths; Budgam has 1,974 positive cases, 528 active positive, 1,400 recovered, 46 deaths; Anantnag has 1,946 positive cases, 408 active positive, 1,495 recovered, 43 deaths. “Kulgam has 1753 positive cases, 211 active positive, 1,511 recovered, 31 deaths; Kupwara has 1,724 positive cases, 504 active positive, 1,181 recovered, 39 deaths; Bandipora has 1,696 positive cases, 892 active positive, 782 recovered, 22 deaths; Shopian has 1,617 positive cases, 133 active positive, 1,458 recovered, 26 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,093 positive cases, 530 active positive, 549 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,133 positive cases, 667 active positive, 1437 recovered, 29 deaths; Rajouri has 801 positive cases, 90 active positive, 708 recovered, three deaths; Kathua has 695 positive cases, 114 active positive, 580 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 680 positive cases, 75 active positive, 603 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 632 positive cases, 30 active positive, 601 recovered, one death. “Samba has 608 positive cases, 183 active positive, 424 recovered, one death; Doda has 352 positive cases, 48 active positive, 302 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 340 positive cases, 192 active positive, 148 recovered; Poonch has 335 positive cases, 71 active positive, 262 recovered, two deaths and Kishtwar has 186 positive cases with 18 active positive cases and 168 recoveries,” reads the bulletin. Out of 30,717 positive cases, 5,715 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
