Strange! SDMA shortlists sacked backdoor appointees for interview again
8/21/2020 12:42:31 AM
Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Aug 20: After unemployed youth sought Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s intervention into the appointments and recruitments of fresh professionals in the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), some backdoor appointees who were kicked out in 2018- 19 have been allegedly shortlisted again for the posts of consultants and senior consultants.
According to sources few years back there were back door appointments in the State Disaster Management Authority wherein several persons were engaged as disaster management professionals (DMP) without any advertisements, and after the scam was exposed, those back door appointees were disengaged in 2018-19, and in 2019 some posts were advertised in the same department.
Sources said that only 3 posts including that of consultants for Baramulla/Kupwara and Senior Consultants were advertised for J&K. More than three hundred applicants were shortlisted for the fresh interview.
However, there are some backdoor appointees who were kicked out by the government in 2018-19 have been called in for an interview, said sources.
Sources also said that if these candidates (name withheld) were kicked out because they were not having requisite experience, and they were appointed via back door then the question arises how can department consider the experience of those candidates who were appointed via back door, when their appointments were illegal, it itself means that there experience is also not legal.
“ The government should order a probe to find out why the experience of those candidates who were appointed without an advertisement notice is being considered and why they have been called for the interview with the same illegal experience? If now their experience is considered for Sr Consultant and Consultant Posts in Disaster Management it will put a question mark on the entire selection process,” they said.
“It is unfortunate that the experience of backdoor appointees is being considered in the same department from where they were thrown out. Their basic appointment was in clear violation of norms hence their experience is invalid,” sources added.
Sources alleged there are some elements associated with the Disaster Management who are hell bent to favour previously appointed backdoor appointed Disaster Management professionals.
They further alleged that at the time of back door appointments of some candidates in question top officers were being told that there are not sufficient candidates having disaster management pre requisite qualifications and experiences, and that is why post were not advertised, now time has proved they were wrong because of huge response they have got from the eligible candidates.
The unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir UT have requested the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter, and order for an enquiry into the appointments of various professionals in the State Disaster Management Authority.
