Now tiffin boxes under scanner in Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 20: In a development that has put the security forces on tenterhooks, terror outfits have been found to be using tiffin boxes for their terror activities including circulation of the hawala money and possibly even to ferry arms and ammunition in Jammu province. Sources said intelligence agencies have inputs that the terror outfits may use lunch boxes to ferry arms and ammunition especially deadly explosives like RDX. Sources said the intelligence agencies got such inputs after the police in Jammu last month seized a consignment of hawala money from a hotcase. Sources said the Pakistan handler were wanting the terror groups make use of such things for transportation of terror material on which “nobody would usually smell rat.” “In this case, lunch box has been found as a safe haven as it can be used to ferry anything from bullets to grenades and pistols to explosives from one place to another,” said an official on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the intelligence agencies got feelers on this front after a major expose on July 20. On the fateful day, the security forces busted a terror funding module of the proscribed terror outfit - Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Jammu ahead of the Amarnath Ji Yatra that was finally cancelled. As per the Jammu zone Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mukesh Singh, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) had activated a module for carrying out terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir particularly in the Jammu region and in furtherance to this, a delivery of funds was to take place in Jammu. During the search operation, one bag containing Rs 1.5 lakh which was concealed in a tiffin box was recovered, the IGP had said. A case has already been registered in Peer Mitha Police Station and further investigation of the case is going on to unearth its linkages, modus operandi, etc, said the IGP. Sources said the police and other security forces on duty have been asked to keep vigil of tiffin boxes if being carried by anyone suspicious. When contacted a senior police official said the forces were fully prepared to thwart any such terror plot. |
