COVID: Jammu Admn starts Rapid Antigen Tests, 323 test +ve in 3 days | | | EArly Times Report
Jammu, Aug 29: To assess the spread of COVID-19, the Jammu administration has started Rapid Antigen Tests and in three days of exercise, 323 persons were tested positive in the district. Jammu District Administration will conduct 19150 Rapid Antigen Tests in one week at 110 locations, targeting markets, localities, journalists and government offices across the district, which started on August 26. Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chauhan here said that after three days of Rapid Antigen Testing, in urban areas of Jammu( mainly markets) - 6960 samples were taken and Antigen test performed, out of which 309 positives have been reported which forms 4.4 percent positivity rate. She said that in rural areas: 1071 sampled and tested, out of which 14 have tested positive which forms 1.4 percent positivity rate. “Total for entire district - testing : 8031; total positives- 323 with positivity 4 percent,” said Ms Chauhan. The District Disaster Management chairperson further said, “there is no need to panic. This is the only way we will be able to segregate the infected people and put them in isolation thereby arresting the spread of virus.” “In seven days, the administration will conduct 19150 tests at 110 different locations of the Jammu districts. The locations included 65 government building and 55 areas as well markets,” an official said. The administration has directed to Block Medical Officers (BMOs)/Urban Health Centres (UHCs) to serve as nodal units for sampling and testing of the designated target zones. The administration also said that the strict perimeter control will be followed during the period of sampling and testing, for which purpose the Tehsildars and SHOs concerned will ensure strict perimeter control and no inward/outward movement in the targeted area will be permitted. |
