Jammu, Aug 29: Professor, J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu while addressing a webinar stressed upon the importance of adoption of holistic approach of agriculture development during two days webinar on Role of agriculture and rural youth in Self Reliant Bharat Webinar organized by Agrivision. The webinar was inaugurated by Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India and Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra Secretary DARE and DG ICAR, New Delhi. Speaking during the session “Prospects for Rural Development and Unorganized Workers in Agricultural Sector” in which Anurag Thakur Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate GOI was the chief guest whereas Professor J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu along with Dr. Arvind Kumar Vice-Chancellor, RLBCAU, Jhanshi, Amitabh Kant, CEO- NITI Aayog and Satish Marathe RBI Central Board Director, Mumbai were Guest of Honours’. Professor Sharma stressed upon the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants in view about the changing climatic conditions. He also briefed how Agricultural Scientist, farmers and other associated workers of agriculture and allied sectors worked tirelessly at the time of COVID-19 pandemic thus making a real sense of Atma Nirbhar Bharat (Self- reliant India). He also applauded role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras towards achieving self-sufficiency in food production and skill development since this agency works at district level for the upliftment of farmers, farm women and rural youth.
