In 70 years Kashmir Dynast clinched to power, looted people: Raman Suri
‘Gupkar Declaration is aimed at exploiting people’
8/30/2020 12:58:55 AM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 29: Having promoted separatism, anarchy, corruption, nepotism and pushed youth towards militancy, a chosen few leaders and dynasts of Kashmir have joined hands to sign self-styled declarations, only to disturb the peace and tranquility. These spent forces, having lost ground and being exposed before the general public, are now trying to find some ground to survive in political arena.
Condemning their so-called Gupkar Declaration, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today said, this is nothing but a document like other false promises that leaders like Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Yousuf Tarigami and Omar Abdullah besides Congress leaders used to make with the people of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947.
Greater Autonomy, State Autonomy, Pre 53 Status, Self Rule and now Gupkar Declaration, all are slogans to engage people in unproductive exchange of ideas and at the same time, enjoy power by staying as Member Parliament or like past, even Chief Minister, only to pass on the reigns of power to their sons and daughters. This is what Gupkar Declaration is all about.
People of Kashmir, Raman Suri said, have realised that for the past 70 years leaders like Abdullahs and Muftis didn’t let Panchayats and Local Bodies get empowered, chose not to make laws that helped poor, deliberately kept laws that strengthened democracy at bay, pushed Kashmir children towards militancy and sent their wards abroad to study or do business and looted money, that was meant for development of Jammu and Kashmir.
He urged people to ask these leaders that why in 70 years Dal Lake has shrinked, why money meant for its cleanliness was embezzled, why youth was forced to take the gun when provocative slogan of Azadi or protecting Article 370 were frivolous and aimed at misguiding them and why Kashmir didn’t see any development like rest of the country in all these years. Raman Suri said that in order to keep people engaged elsewhere and escape these questions, this hollow Gupkar Declaration has come into existence.
The confidence with which Farooq Abdullah told people that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can not abrogate Article 370 and the confidence with which Mehbooba Mufti told people that no one will unfurl Tricolour in J&K, should have also been displayed in telling people that they are already having Azadi and so they should stop losing their precious lives. Why these leaders did chose to stay mum and not guide youth to be part of development and build their future.
