COVID-19: In 3 days, 43 test positive; people urge admin to impose lockdown in Kishtwar | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 31: Nearly 43 persons testing positive for COVID-19 in 3 days in Kishtwar District has created fear among the residents. According to the details available with Early Times the positive cases include 9 members of a one family, three lab technicians, and a health inspector posted at District Hospital Kishtwar. People are demanding immediate implementation of lockdown in Kishtwar District, particularly in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas. Around 20 Positive cases have so far been reported from under construction Dam site of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool HEP at Dangdoru some 60 KM from Kishtwar which has become a hub of virus in the Kishtwar District as fresh 5 cases were reported today. As per the health officials, there are reports about COVID-19 spreading within the community in Kishtwar. They have called for immediate measures to prevent the spread of deadly disease. The employees working at District Hospital Kishtwar have also demanded immediate shifting of COVID 19 testing from District Hospital Kishtwar main building to some other building so that normal patients and hospital staff don’t contract virus. They have also demanded proper kits so that they could save themselves from falling prey to the virus. “We have not been given rest from the duties since last six months. We are working tirelessly at the front of the pandemic” said an official wishing anonymity. Locals have urged the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to impose strict possible lockdown to contain the virus. Meanwhile senior officials in district are in hurdle to decide the further course of action due to rise in number of cases. |
