SRINAGAR, Aug 31: The death toll due to Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir reached 703 as nine more people died due to virus in the past 24 hours. The number of positive cases of virus is 37,698 as 535 fresh cases were reported today. Srinagar, Jammu and Kupwara districts reported two fresh deaths of COVID-19 death followed by a death each in Pulwama, Anantnag and Doda districts. So far 637 Corona Virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir with the number of deaths in Jammu being 66. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 221 deaths. Jammu reported 139 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar 90 cases, Pulwama 52 deaths, Bandipora 38 deaths, Kathua 33 cases, Udhampur 27 cases, Budgam 25 cases, Kupwara 19 cases, Anantnag and Ganderbal 18 cases each, Baramulla 16 cases, Rajouri 13 cases, Doda nine cases, Kishtwar eight cases, Kulgam and Shopian seven cases each, Samba and Reasi six cases each, Poonch three cases and Ramban one case. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 535 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 245 from Jammu division and 290 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 37,698. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 505 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 110 from Jammu Division and 395 from Kashmir Division. Out of 37,698 positive cases, 7,980 are active positive, 29,015 have recovered and 703 have died; 66 in Jammu division and 637 in Kashmir division. Out of 9, 66,412 test results available, 9, 28,714 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 4, 61,461 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,562 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,980 in isolation and 45,170 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 62,046 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 9,273 positive cases, 1,572 active positive, 7,480 recovered, 221 deaths; Baramulla has 2,826 positive cases, 520 active positive, 2,206 recovered, 100 deaths; Pulwama has 2,643 positive cases, 474 active positive, 2,120 recovered, 49 deaths; Budgam has 2,507 positive cases, 668 active positive, 1,779 recovered, 60 deaths; Anantnag has 2,332 positive cases, 517 active positive, 1,765 recovered, 50 deaths. “Bandipora has 2,180 positive cases, 708 active positive, 1,447 recovered, 25 deaths; Kupwara has 2,094 positive cases, 578 active positive, 1,468 recovered, 48 deaths; Kulgam has 1,925 positive cases, 191 active positive, 1,699 recovered, 35 deaths; Shopian has 1,704 positive cases, 119 active positive, 1,557 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,433 positive cases, 441 active positive, 971 recovered, 21 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 3,288 positive cases, 1,209 active positive, 2,035 recovered, 44 deaths; Kathua has 904 positive cases, 208 active positive, 693 recovered, three deaths; Rajouri has 901 positive cases, 127 active positive, 769 recovered, five deaths; Udhampur has 837 positive cases, 154 active positive, 681 recovered, two deaths; Samba has 712 positive cases, 173 active positive, 537 recovered, two deaths. “Ramban has 654 positive cases, 19 active positive, 634 recovered, one death; Doda has 424 positive cases, 81 active positive, 339 recovered, four deaths; Poonch has 416 positive cases, 87 active positive, 325 recovered, four deaths; Reasi has 395 positive cases, 70 active positive, 325 recovered and Kishtwar has 250 positive cases, 64 active positive, 185 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 37,698 positive cases in J&K, 6561 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
