DB directs to ensure compliance of directions on road widening | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 2: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Civil Society Tral regarding road widening, Division Bench of J&K High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Puneet Gupta observed that on 15th of July, 2020, we had directed that a status report dated 16th of March, 2020 has been placed before us enclosing the minutes of the meeting dated 23-02-2020 which was chaired by the Chief Secretary undertaking a review of the four laning of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. However, the status report in terms of the order dated 16.03.2020 has not been filed. Let the same be brought on record before the next date of hearing. The Nodal Officer shall also place before us the action taken in terms of the directions issued in terms of the meeting dated 23.02.2020. The Nodal Officer shall do so in a tabulated form and place before us the timeline within which the action would be taken.” DB observed that the above directions have not been complied with. DB further observed that the last report is dated 14.03.2020. The same contained several directions issued by the Chief Secretary at the District level related to four laning of National Highway. DB directed respondents to ensure compliance with our directions dated 15th of July, 2020 made in paragraph 3 of the order within four weeks from today. JNF
