KATHUA, Sept 2: Former Minister and President District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma conducted 2-day long tour of Billawar assembly segment. Manohar Lal Sharma visited different villages of the constituency including Challan, Pongran, Bhaddu, Pallan, Kishanpur, Billawar town and Dayalachak where he took stock of damages caused due to flash floods and heavy rains in Billawar and Kathua. While speaking, Dr Sharma said it has been a week now but the administration has failed to reach to the people affected due to floods and rains. He again urged the administration for swift action for rehabilitation and compensation to those affected. Dr Sharma said due to heavy rain and flash flood number residential houses were damaged and major landslides have been reported in Tehsil Billawar. While interacting with the people he said that administration is still showing callous attitude and not taking the damages caused seriously. He also took up the matter with DDC Kathua, ADC Billawar, Xen PMGSY Billawar and Flood Control Kathua and Tehsildar concerned for providing compensation at the earliest. Sharma further asked for shifting of affected families to safer places, provide adequate compensation and permanent protection of affected habitations. |
