Jammu, Sept 2: Jammu Diary has welcomed the approval of the bill under which Dogri will be now one of the official languages of Jammu and Kashmir. The other languages that have been given approval for inclusion are Kashmiri and Hindi. Jammu Diary has issued this statement after the announcement by the Union Minister, Prakash Javadekar in which he said that Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill, 2020, will be introduced in Parliament in the upcoming Monsoon Session. Welcoming the statement and approval of the Bill, Sugam Bral .Chairman ,Jammu Diary said, ”This was along pending demand of the people of Jammu to declare Dogri as the official language of J and K. It is matter of pride and honour for all Dogras that Dogri language has been given due recognition as it will encourage the people to speak and contribute in their mother tongue. After the inclusion of Dogri in the 8th schedule, this decision is another feather in the cap of the people of Jammu who have been struggling to weed out discrimination to the region from decades since independence. Jammu Diary congratulates the Dogras all over the world and India for this feat” Terming the initiative as landmark decision Dr. Mahesh Kaul, General Secretary, Jammu Diary said, ”After the reorganisation of the erstwhile princely state into two Union territories on 5th August 2019 this decision to give Dogri its due place is in continuity to reorganise J & K till perfection. It will pave the way for the equitable development of the Jammu and Kashmir and will lead to empowerment of Jammu region. Dogri has a rich literary history and has a reservoir of literature that is second to none. Jammu has produced Dogri writers and poets of national and international repute that include Dinu Bhai Pant, Prof.Ram Nath Shastri, Padma Sachdev, Ved Rahi ,Ved Paul Deep and Padam Shri Shiv Nirmohi and many more.By this move it will enable to bring Dogri at par with other regional languages that was over due. Thus enabling the whole nation to experience the richness of Dogri language and culture.
