COVID-19 recovery rate in JK drops to 66 percent, 12 percent less than national average

SRINAGAR, Sept 13: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir has dipped to 66 percent, almost 12 percent less than the national recovery rate of 77.88 percent. The recovery rate has been hit due to the surge in Corona Virus cases in the past one week or so.
The union territory reported 1,686 fresh cases of the virus today and as a result of the same the number of positive cases is 54,096. With 14 fresh deaths the death toll in Jammu & Kashmir reached 878. The Jammu division has seen surge in both the fresh cases as well as deaths in past one week.
Jammu district reported 405 fresh cases followed by Srinagar district 185 cases, Budgam 158 cases, Bandipora district 128 cases, Doda district 94 cases, Baramulla and Poonch districts 79 cases each, Ganderbal district 78 cases, Rajouri district 70 cases, Kupwara district 62 cases, Udhampur district 56 cases, Kathua district 48 cases, Anantnag district 47 cases, Kishtwar district 45 cases, Pulwama district 44 cases, Ramban district 31 cases, Samba district 29 cases, Kulgam district 22 cases, Reasi district 18 cases and Shopian district eight cases.
Three deaths each were reported from Srinagar, Jammu and Rajouri districts with a death each being reported from Budgam, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kathua and Kishtwar districts. So far 727 persons have died due to COVID-19 in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 151.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,686 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 875 from Jammu division and 811 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 54,096. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; eight from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 452 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 146 from Jammu Division and 306 from Kashmir Division. Out of 54,096 positive cases, 17,481 are active positive, 35,737 have recovered and 878 have died; 151 in Jammu division and 727 in Kashmir division. Out of 12, 31,698 test results available, 11, 77,602 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 23,018 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 41,945 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 17,481 in isolation and 54,279 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 08,435 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 11,678 positive cases, 1,959 active positive, 9,468 recovered, 251 deaths; Budgam has 3,741 positive cases, 1,357 active positive, 2313 recovered, 71 deaths; Baramulla has 3,479 positive cases, 951 active positive, 2,415 recovered, 113 deaths; Pulwama has 3,164 positive cases, 456 active positive, 2,648 recovered, 60 deaths; Anantnag has 2,895 positive cases, 705 active positive, 2,136 recovered, 54 deaths.
"Kupwara has 2,846 positive cases, 979 active positive, 1811 recovered, 56 deaths; Bandipora has 2,838 positive cases, 909 active positive, 1,901 recovered, 28 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,103 positive cases, 576 active positive, 1,502 recovered, 25 deaths; Kulgam has 2,091 positive cases, 135 active positive, 1,916 recovered, 40 deaths and Shopian has 1,873 positive cases, 156 active positive, 1688 recovered, 29 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 8,352 positive cases, 5,570 active positive, 2,694 recovered, 88 deaths; Udhampur has 1,454 positive cases, 635 active positive, 815 recovered, four deaths; Rajouri has 1,434 positive cases, 586 active positive, 830 recovered, 18 deaths; Kathua has 1,333 positive cases, 435 active positive, 886 recovered, 12 deaths; Samba has 1,066 positive cases, 438 active positive, 620 recovered, eight deaths.
"Poonch has 900 positive cases, 486 active positive, 408 recovered, six deaths; Doda has 826 positive cases, 412 active positive, 405 recovered, nine deaths; Ramban has 825 positive cases, 171 active positive, 653 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 610 positive cases, 335 active positive, 273 recovered, two deaths and Reasi has 588 positive cases, 230 active positive, 355 recovered, three deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 54,096 positive cases in J&K, 7,707 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
