| “Backyard Horticulture” programme held at Jaswan | | |

Jammu, Sep 14: Horticulture Department under the direction of Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak kick started the flagship programme “Backyard Horticulture” under the scheme CAPEX at Panchyat Jaswan.
Speaking on the occasion Director Horticulture elaborated the schemes of the Department in detail to the farmers and impressed upon them to avail maximum benefits of the departmental schemes to enhance their farm income.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu informed that under “Backyard Horticulture” programme atleast three fruit plants amounting to Rs.200 will be distributed to the farmers at 90% subsidy covering 600 households in Zone Marh. The main aim of the programme is to promote organic fruit production for home consumption and to fullfil their individual requirement.
DLSMS Sanjeev Karlupia also demonstrated the cultural practices to be adopted while planting these fruit plants in their houses backyard so as to keep the insect and diseases at bay. He also advised the farmers to plant these fruit plants in their houses backyard so as to preserve environment and increase green cover.
