SRINAGAR, Sep 14: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness surge in Corona Virus cases with 1,229 fresh cases being reported today. At the same time 17 more people died during the past 24 hours. The total number of positive cases is 55,325 and the total number of casualties 895.
Jammu district reported 392 fresh COVID-19 cases followed by Srinagar district 119 cases, Doda district 113 cases, Rajouri district 87 cases, Budgam district 78 cases, Poonch district 57 cases, Udhampur district 54 cases, Bandipora district 45 cases, Ganderbal district 43 cases, Pulwama district 40 cases, Samba district 38 cases, Reasi district 29 cases, Kathua district 27 cases, Kishtwar district 26 cases, Anantnag district 24 cases, Kupwara district 17 cases, Baramulla district 16 cases, Ramban district 14 cases, Shopian district eight cases and Kulgam district two cases.
Jammu and Doda districts reported four fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths each in Budgam and Pulwama districts and a death each in Srinagar, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Kishtwar districts. So far 735 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 160.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,229 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 837 from Jammu division and 392 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 55,325. Also 17 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; nine from Jammu division and eight from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 644 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 231 from Jammu Division and 413 from Kashmir Division. Out of 55,325 positive cases, 18,049 are active positive, 36,381 have recovered and 895 have died; 160 in Jammu division and 735 in Kashmir division. Out of 12, 48,495 test results available, 11, 93,170 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 25,963 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,090 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 18,049 in isolation and 55,018 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 09,911 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 11,797 positive cases, 1,931 active positive, 9,614 recovered, 252 deaths; Budgam has 3,819 positive cases, 1,392 active positive, 2,354 recovered, 73 deaths; Baramulla has 3,495 positive cases, 967 active positive, 2,415 recovered, 113 deaths; Pulwama has 3,204 positive cases, 460 active positive, 2,682 recovered, 62 deaths; Anantnag has 2,919 positive cases, 706 active positive, 2159 recovered, 54 deaths.
"Bandipora has 2,883 positive cases, 922 active positive, 1,932 recovered, 29 deaths; Kupwara has 2863 positive cases, 920 active positive, 1,886 recovered, 57 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,146 positive cases, 563 active positive, 1,557 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,093 positive cases, 132 active positive, 1,921 recovered, 40 deaths and Shopian has 1,881 positive cases, 161 active positive, 1,691 recovered, 29 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 8,744 positive cases, 5,855 active positive, 2,797 recovered, 92 deaths; Rajouri has 1,521 positive cases, 673 active positive, 830 recovered, 18 deaths; Udhampur has 1,508 positive cases, 659 active positive, 845 recovered, four deaths; Kathua has 1,360 positive cases, 450 active positive, 898 recovered, 12 deaths; Samba has 1,104 positive cases, 469 active positive, 627 recovered, eight deaths.
"Poonch has 957 positive cases, 529 active positive, 422 recovered, six deaths; Doda has 939 positive cases, 488 active positive, 438 recovered, 13 deaths; Ramban has 839 positive cases, 185 active positive, 653 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 636 positive cases, 347 active positive, 286 recovered, three deaths and Reasi has 617 positive cases, 240 active positive, 374 recovered, three deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 55,325 positive cases in J&K, 7,791 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
