Rare surgery performed at DH Udhampur | | | Early times report
Udhampur, Sept 16: In a first of its kind in any of the government hospital of district Udhampur today a 26 years old lady suffering from ear discharge and hearing loss for the last three years was operated upon by ENT Surgeon, Dr Neha wherein she was assisted by Anesthetist, Dr Prakash Atri; Theater Assistant, Rajinder and Mahesh under the supervision of CMO Udhampur Dr K.C Dogra and Medical Superintendent, Dr Vijay Raina. The procedure performed in the surgery was endoscopic tympanoplasty which was done for the first time in District Hospital Udhampur. Dr Neha, who is trained in endoscopic surgeries from Safdarjung Hospital New Delhi is also trained in Endoscopic Nasal Procedures and Vocal Cord Surgeries using endoscope help to visualise the middle ear anatomy and pathology intraoperatively with minimal soft tissue manipulation better cosmesis which reduces postoperative morbidity and better graft uptake. “Doing elective surgeries also put doctors and paramedical staff on high risk of getting Corona infections especially in ENT,” said Dr Neha as the operation was done in close contact with patient. After surgery the patient is stable and feeling happy.
