Kashmir based employees asked to fill forms to get accommodation in Jammu
Secretariat move on cards

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 16: Speculations, to do away with age old practice of annual Darbar move between two capital cities, were generated when during summers, Union Territory led administration had allowed the Jammu based employees to stay in Jammu but the administration has decided to bring back Kashmir based employees back to Jammu.
According to sources in the Civil Secretariat, the government employees hailing from Kashmir valley have reportedly been asked by the Estate Department to fill the forms to get accommodation in Jammu city. “Those willing to take accommodation for their stay in winter capital city Jammu, have been asked to fill the forms to get accommodation in hotels, guest houses etc”, a Kashmir based civil secretariat employee said, adding that almost over 90 percent of the move employees have given their consent and have filled the forms to get accommodation for their winter stay in Jammu. The employees maintained that the arrangements for the stay of move based employees have been made by Estates Department in advance and the process has already set into motion. “Maximum of the Kashmir based employees are willing to return back to Jammu during winters due to extreme weather conditions”, sources said.
Speculations were rife that whether the secretariat would move to Jammu or not as during summers, the Jammu based employees had not moved to Srinagar.
“Even records of some departments were also bifurcated on the instructions of government but getting the forms filled from the Kashmir based employees points that Kashmir based secretariat employees would move back to Jammu as per age old practice”, sources said.
“Though the Estates Department has taken the forms from employees but we are still unsure as whether it would shift all the employees as per past practice. As per developments it appeared that Secretariat would move as per routine practice and the initiative taken by UT administration of bifurcating the records or employees has so far not taken a formal shape”, employees said, adding that it would be decided in due course of time as the practice would continue or cease to exist.
