JK reports 1590 fresh cases of Corona Virus, 18 deaths also come up

SRINAGAR, Sept 16: The number of Corona Virus positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir reached 58,244 after 1,590 fresh cases came to the fore today. The death toll due to virus reached 932 as 18 fresh deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 225 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 221 cases, Rajouri district 147 cases, Budgam district 119 cases, Doda district 114 cases, Baramulla and Poonch districts 92 cases each, Ganderbal district 86 cases, Kathua district 80 cases, Kupwara district 74 cases, Pulwama district 70 cases, Udhampur district 44 cases, Bandipora district 42 cases, Samba and Ramban districts 39 cases each, Anantnag district 37 cases, Kishtwar district 32 cases, Reasi district 24 cases and Kulgam district 13 cases.
Jammu district reported seven fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths in Kupwara district and a death each in Srinagar, Budgam, Bandipora, Shopian, Kulgam, Udhampur, Rajouri, Ramban & Samba districts. So far 747 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 185.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,590 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 832 from Jammu division and 758 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 58,244. Also 18 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 11 from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 747 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 275 from Jammu Division and 472 from Kashmir Division. Out of 58,244 positive cases, 19,503 are active positive, 37,809 have recovered and 932 have died; 185 in Jammu division and 747 in Kashmir division. Out of 12, 97,329 test results available, 12, 39,085 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 30,708 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 31,140 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 19,503 in isolation and 63,886 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 15,247 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 12,167 positive cases, 1,950 active positive, 9,961 recovered, 256 deaths; Budgam has 4,066 positive cases, 1,562 active positive, 2,430 recovered, 74 deaths; Baramulla has 3,609 positive cases, 1,036 active positive, 2,459 recovered, 114 deaths; Pulwama has 3,344 positive cases, 508 active positive, 2,774 recovered, 62 deaths; Anantnag has 3,013 positive cases, 740 active positive, 2,219 recovered, 54 deaths.
“Kupwara has 2,980 positive cases, 947 active positive, 1,973 recovered, 60 deaths; Bandipora has 2,963 positive cases, 978 active positive, 1955 recovered, 30 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,291 positive cases, 539 active positive, 1,726 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,121 positive cases, 130 active positive, 1950 recovered, 41 deaths and Shopian has 1,892 positive cases, 159 active positive, 1,703 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 9,219 positive cases, 6,070 active positive, 3,043 recovered, 106 deaths; Rajouri has 1,773 positive cases, 877 active positive, 877 recovered, 19 deaths; Udhampur has 1,603 positive cases, 734 active positive, 862 recovered, seven deaths; Kathua has 1,502 positive cases, 544 active positive, 945 recovered, 13 deaths; Samba has 1,174 positive cases, 532 active positive, 633 recovered, nine deaths.
“Doda has 1,167 positive cases, 658 active positive, 494 recovered, 15 deaths; Poonch has 1,087 positive cases, 649 active positive, 432 recovered, six deaths; Ramban has 904 positive cases, 239 active positive, 661 recovered, four deaths; Kishtwar has 713 positive cases, 372 active positive, 338 recovered, three deaths and Reasi has 656 positive cases, 279 active positive, 374 recovered, three deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 58,244 positive cases in J&K, 7951 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
