POONCH, Sept 16: Appreciating the decentralization of cricket structure in J&K UT, the District Poonch Cricket Association (DPCA) said that it will provide an easy platform to the budding cricketers of far-off areas. Addressing a press conference here today, General Secretary of DPCA, Maqsood Ahmed praised the present committee of administrators of JKCA and CEO JKCA Ashiq Bukhari for decentralizing the cricketing structure in J&K and for conducting the district level tournaments to provide better opportunities to the players in far flung areas like Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar and Kupwara. He said that by sending the selectors of JKCA at door steps of financially poor players, the JKCA has done a commendable job. District Poonch Cricket Association requested the Court and the BCCI not to handover the association to corrupt clubs and to give the district associations their basic rights to participate in the affairs of JKCA and district associations so that more players like Rasik Salam, Mujtaba Yousaf, Hinan Malik (Kishtwar), Aqib Nabi (Baramulla), Nawaz Rather and Ridham Sharma (Poonch), Basit Bashir (Kupwara), Waseem, Bashir and Azhar Amin (Pahalgam, Anantnag) can be found through district bodies. It was only due to district tournaments that these players got chance to play professional cricket. At last, president Zafar Shah and joint secretary Harsimran Singh thanked judges of the administrative committee, Ashiq Bukhari, Irfan Pathan and Parvez Rasool for providing opportunities to the players across the UT and far flung districts.
