Reconsider decision to open educational institutions: USTA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 20: A meeting of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) was held under the chairmanship of Rajeev Kumar, its Provincial President and discussed the present education scenario. While speaking on the occasion USTA General Secretary, Hari Singh appealed to the government to reconsider its decision to open educational institutions at a time when COVID-19 cases are sharply increasing throughout the country including UT of Jammu and Kashmir. The government has decided to open educational institutions without classwork making the presence of 50% teachers mandatory. The purported exercise is going to serve no academic purpose and appears to be merely wastage of time and likely to disrupt even online going academic work and it should be avoided till the formal classwork is resumed. The meeting in one voice strongly appeals the UT administration to concede the long pending demands including release 7th pay commission arrears and DA arrears of masters working as Head teachers under Samagra. Also release grants to clear pending salary for the month of January 2020 of some of these masters, adjust all the left out newly promoted lecturers in various subjects, who are waiting for their adjustments, fill up all the existing vacant posts of masters, lectures, headmasters, ZEOs and principals and the non-teaching staff in the Education Department by way of early DPC besides regularization of all incharge lecturers, headmasters, ZEOs principals, and other officers whose files are pending with the human resource management cell, Civil Secretariat.
