Samba, Oct 6: Creativity consists largely of rearranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know hence, to think creatively we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted. Best out of waste is one such craft which follows the environment friendly principle and at the same time creates useful and picturesque objects out of waste products. In order to make students aware of the use of waste materials and to inculcate in them a habit of reducing waste, ‘Best out of waste’ competition was organized by Govt. Degree College, Vijaypur. A large number of students from various Colleges and Universities of the country enthusiastically participated in the competition. When hands and imaginative minds synchronize a creative burst of mind-blowing energy is created beyond expectations, culminating in fabulous ideas. Students prepared creative and innovative art and crafts pieces from different waste materials like newspapers, ice-cream sticks, plastic bottles, fused bulbs, shoe boxes, wool yarn, socks etc. The first position was secured by Seema Thakur of GCW Gandhinagar . The second position was shared by Pooman Sharma of BMS Institute of Para Medical Sciences and Akansha Rajput of SMVDU. The third position was shared by Palvi of GCW Gandhinagar, Jammu and Sanyum Kumar of IITM Murthal, Haryana. The consolations were awarded to Tamana of Sri Sai Public School, Jammu; Mitali Rathore of GGM Sc. College, Jammu; Mridhu Sharma from SKUAST-J and Ashish Chouhan of DCRUST University , Delhi-NCR.
