Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 6: By conducting a surprise visit at Government Medical College (GMC), Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has shown mirror to leadership of Jammu who have virtually abandoned Jammu people at the time of pandemic.
Some BJP leadership had gone to GMC along with a crew of media persons just to befool people of Jammu region but Lieutenant Governor has conducted a surprise visit without informing the media with an aim to get authentic feedback.
Virtually rubbing salt on the wounds of the people of Jammu region, BJP had, three-day back, involved some former health ministers to review health facilities in Jammu’s health institutes. Shockingly one of the former health ministers was himself involved in creating mess in the health sector during this tenure as Health and Medical Education Minister. It was only during this tenure, health facilities in Jammu were completely collapsed and rate of transfers were fixed from senior doctors to class-IVth employees. It was the first time during the tenure of that former BJP minister that the transfer rate of even NOs were fixed.
Meanwhile Lt Governor during this surprise visit took stock of the medicare services being extended to Covid and other patients. Lt Governor took a round of different medical units and enquired about the availability of necessary equipment and other facilities required for patient care. He also took stock of the interventions made by the hospital administration while dealing with the ongoing pandemic COVID-19.
Taking cognizance of the complaints being received from the general public regarding shortage of oxygen, the Lt Governor said that the fight against Covid is our collective responsibility. He directed the concerned officers to rationalise the resources and resolve the prevalent issues. He also directed that, ‘senior doctors should attend to Covid patients’.
The Lt Governor also took a round of the Emergency Ward, High Dependency Unit and other units of the hospital before conducting a meeting with senior officers.
