Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers seek regularization, enhancement of wages | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 13: Condemning the silence of the Govt over plight of Rehbar-e-Khel, the All Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e- Khel Teachers Forum has appealed the Govt to regularize their job and enhance their wages from Rs 100 per day. The Forum Vice President Dheeraj Salaria said that most of the teachers are highly qualified. He appealed to the Govt to accept the long pending demand of the Rehbar-e- Khel who are being exploited in the name of daily wage. "We are given Rs 100 per day and Rs 3000 in a month which is sheer violation of minimum wage act which has not been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir depriving educated youth of their genuine demands," said Salaria. Salaria said that the B. P. d, M. P. Ed, M. Phill, PhD, Physical education youth have been engaged as Rehbar-e-Khel facing explciltation, await salary hike and deduction of probation period. Over 3000 B.Ped, MPed, M. Phil, PhD Physical education degree holders were engaged as Rehbar-e-Khel in J&K Youth Services & Sports Department since 2018 by the previous PDP-BJP govt. Salaria said that they are facing starvation and are unable to feed families, many youth left the job and are doing their own private works to earn livelihood. He said despite COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, most of these employees are performing their job at their respective places and have been engaged in health department nowadays, adding that no extra allowances are being given to them. They are not covered under any Health Insurance Scheme and are virtually being considered as 'orphan babies' of the J&K YSS Department.
