KUPWARA, Oct 13: Police and army recovered five pistols along with 10 magazines and 138 rounds from a bag on Tuesday which was suspiciously lying in Teetwal area of this north Kashmir district, officials said.
It is learnt that police post Teetwal received specific information regarding presence of a bag containing suspicious material at Village Gundi Shart.
A joint party of police and army’s 6 JAK rifle conducted a search at the spot to check about the suspicious material in the bag that was found laying on the ground.
“During search a black colour bag containing 59 mm Pistols, 10 magazines, 138 rounds and two biscuit packets, ‘’ the police officer said.
He said that police have registered a case FIR No 78/2020 u/s 7/25 I A Act and started investigations into the matter.
It is pertinent to mention here that on Oct 10, Army foiled weapon smuggling along the line of control (LoC) at Keran sector and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
The patrolling party had reached the spot and recovered a huge cache of war-like stores that include 4 AK-47 rifles, 08 Magazines and 240 AK rifle rounds.
However a top army official said that this is just like a second bid of weapon smuggling, as the militants are desperate to smuggle the arms and ammunition to this side of LoC from different routes.
We will not allow them to deteriorate the peace process in Kashmir valley, our vigilant forces are always on the toes to deal with any challenges and from time to time we give them a befitting reply to their enemies, the official informed.
