Islamist and communist Rulers Gang up against India “On Kashmir”
10/14/2020 12:19:16 AM

M.M.Khajooria

There have been on the international front some significant worrying developments in respect of the so-called Kashmir issue Turkey and Malaysia are the two new recruits to the gang of Islamist countries who back Pakistan in her nefarious design to grab Kashmir.Even the moderate Organization of Islamic countries (OIC) , which not long ago invited Indian Foreign Minister to participate in its conference has jumped in • A statement released by the Organisation on August 6 noted that ‘following a request from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, an urgent meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu & Kashmir at the level of Permanent Representatives was held in Jeddah on 6 August 2019 to review the recent developments in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IoK), It Called upon India to “’rescind” action on Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Saudi Arabia joined Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Niger to issue a statement on behalf of the OIC . The Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC), a grouping of 57 Islamic countries, also appointed a special envoy on Jammu and Kashmir, a move seen as part of Pakistan’s efforts to internationalise the issue. The appointment of Abdullah Bin Adbul Rahman Al Bakr, a Saudi national, as the special OIC envoy on Jammu and Kashmir was welcomed by Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who also held a series of meetings with the leaders of the Muslim countries raising the issue of alleged violations of human rights in Kashmir.
Last year, weeks after India scrapped Article 370 of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, Erdogan had raised the issue of Kashmir at the UNGA 74th session and criticised the international community for failing to pay attention to the Kashmir conflict. On day two of the high-level UNGA, the Turkish President said, “The Kashmir conflict, which is also key to the stability and peace of South Asia, is still a burning issue.”
This year , after Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi raked up the Kashmir issue, Erdogan too criticised the situation in Kashmir. In a pre-recorded statement, the leader said that “it is imperative to solve the issue of Kashmir through dialogue.” We are in favour of solving this issue through dialogue within the framework of the United Nations resolutions, especially in line with the expectations of the people of Kashmir,” Erdogan added. In the last one year, Pakistan-ally Turkey has used several platforms to raise the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
At last year’s high-level meeting of the General Assembly Erdogan and Mahatir Mohammed, the then-Prime Minister of Malaysia, joined Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to talk about Kashmir. Weeks after India scrapped Article 370 of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, Erdogan had raised the issue of Kashmir at the UNGA 74th session and criticised the international community for failing to pay attention to the Kashmir conflicThis year after Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi raised up the Kashmir issue, Erdogan too criticised the situation in Kashmir. In a pre-recorded statement, the leader said that it is imperative to solve the issue of Kashmir through dialogue”We are in favour of solving this issue through dialogue within the framework of the United Nations resolutions, especially in line with the expectations of the people of Kashmir,” Erdogan added.
It all began with Turkey and China raising the Kashmir issue at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad soon followed suit in support of the two countries. In his address to the 74th UNGA, Mohamad said: “Now, despite the UN resolution on Jammu and Kashmir, the country has been invaded and occupied.
Then there is communist China the “ all weather friend ”of Pakistan. Bejing has qualitatively and radically altered her position on Kashmir. From a consistent “supporter” of Pakistan position on Kashmir , she has jumped to stand aside Islamic Republic and declared herself as a party to the “Kashmir dispute”.
In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said China “does not recognize the so-called Union Territory of Ladakh” by India, and “opposes infrastructure construction in disputed border areas for military control purposes”. Beijing’s remarks reflect a hardening of stance pushing away hopes of an early resolution of the Ladakh crisis . It appears that the two armies will have to keep their troops deployed in the region through the extremely harsh winter months.
Now what about our friends in the western countries.? Their most favourable position postulates that India and Pakistan must resolve the “Kashmir dispute ”peacefully and through mutual negotiations” implying that there indeed was a dispute over Jammu & Kashmir.
Our “most valued friend Donanld Trump has on number of occasions offered to mediate to resolve the “dispute”
The first offer came on July 22, 2019, during Imran Khan’s first visit to the White House. “If I can help, I would love to be a mediator,” Trump had said, in response to a direct appeal from Khan. “It shouldn’t be -- I mean, it’s impossible to believe two incredible countries that are very, very smart, with very smart leadership, can’t solve a problem like that”. So you see, Trump has very generously equated the “”Very Very smart leaderships of two very very smart countries”. What do you say to that.? And then you have the Bomb shell.
“I was with Prime Minister Modi two weeks ago and we talked about this subject and he actually said ‘Would you like to be a mediator or arbitrator’, I said ‘Where’, He said ‘Kashmir’. Because this has been going on for many, many years,” . Trump claimed the conversation took place at the White House, where he was hosting Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan.”If I can help, I would love to be a mediator” he added. Of course, the Indian foreign office denied the claim and asserted that The Prime Minister never made any such request. The White House spokesperson retorted “The President does not make up stories”. That is the real picture once the frill and fancies are shed.
When the chips are down ,we are left alone to confront a coalition of Pakistan and China on our own on both the Air and the land. Some indirect back up may be forth coming on the seas where USAs’ own interests are at stake. It is therefore imperative that our political, diplomatic and strategic experts rush to their drawing boards and craft realistic and effective response to the grave threats to the security and integrity of the country. WE have already made significant improvements in the capabilities of our Army and Air Force whose morale is high and leadership fully geared up. This process needs to be taken forward with urgency and determination.
While we hope and pray the common man in the two countries who has no appetite for war. All-out or limited, the rulers of China and Pakistan are bitten by the desperation bug and smitten by recklessness. The saner sections of opinion makers at least in Pakistan must discharge their responsibilities towards their own people and exercise restraining influence. Of course no such option is available to the Chinese intelligentsia ruled by the communist dictatorship.
