EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 22: Acting upon an online report by a local social media channel, We The Human Forum for Nature and Mankind team comprising Mohinder Kumar and Sana reached village Langotian in Miran Sahib and met members of the poor family. The family, living under shocking circumstances without any earning hand, comprising of three children, mentally retarded mother and grandparents with bed-ridden diabetic ailing grandfather. The only source of income is reportedly meager pension of Rs 6000-7000 only drawn by chronically ill grandfather. The eldest child, a daughter is studying in Part Ist of graduation. We The Human team handed over one Usha sewing machine, two eskimo quality blankets, old aged persons diapers, sanitary napkins and five COVID-19 Hygiene kits to the eldest daughter, as an interim assistance. KYS Manhas, Chairman of the trust said the government needs to devise some strong mechanism in place to provide soft touch to such families whose number, I am afraid, may be in thousands all over the UT. A new social security department with amalgamation of parts of social welfare, health, PRI, education with trained Psychologists may work day and night to identify and uplift such families living under shocking circumstances. This is pertinent that We The Human Forum for Nature and Mankind has been undertaking COVID19 relief activities since March 2020 with the help and support of its more than 100 members. |
