‘Corrupt’ cop managing illegal activities, trade
10/22/2020 11:51:30 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 22: A JK policeman who was allegedly involved in corruption cases is managing various illegal activities and trade, sources have claimed.
They said that the strong links of the policeman in the police department can be gauged from the fact that after his transfer from this district to some other, he retained his posting again in Kathua district, after change of his wing.
“Despite being posted in another wing the policeman is close to the senior police officials of other wings and has been performing various duties to keep some senior officials happy,” sources added.
They said he has reached to such an extent that he has managed to create ill-will in the minds of other senior officials against some others. “The level of ill-will could be reflective from the relationships between a few police officials, who are not even at talking terms with other senior officials”, sources said.
“Several illegal activities and illegal trade, including bovine-smuggling have become a favourite business of this policeman,” sources alleged.
“The policeman in question has remained a favourite of majority of senior police officials, posted in this district. He has not been posted in other districts even for two years as per transfer policy of the government”, sources said, adding that by defaming other police officials, the policeman has been trying to secure brownie points before the senior officials, while the functioning of police force has turned out to be divided house.
“Along with the help of two junior level police officials the policeman has been making fortunes through illegal activities as Kathua connects J&K with Punjab,” sources alleged.
