Suspension drama ends, Bhim Singh reinstated as JKNPP chief patron | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 9: Suspension of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) chief patron Professor Bhim Singh from all party positions and subsequent revocation of the order has exposed the confusion prevailing within the party. The excuse given by the party leadership during revocation of its own decision seemed to be for namesake as same excuse was termed as wrong by none other than by the chairman himself. As per information available in the public domain, when Professor Bhim Singh was suspended on November 7, 2020, following his meeting with leaders of newly created People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration in Jammu, the JKNPP chairman Harshdev Singh had reportedly said, “Although Prof Singh met PAGD leaders in personal capacity but the party cannot stand with anyone who sides with those who are speaking against India or sympathies with them,”. However, on November 9, while revoking the suspension decision of Prof Bhim Singh, following the submission of a report by a fact finding committee of the Party, headed by Balwant Singh Mankotia it was said in the official press release of the party, “Prof Bhim Singh’s visit was purely personal and not connected in any way with Gupkar Declaration. And accordingly it was decided that Prof Bhim Singh shall continue to hold the position of Chief Patron of the party.” However the moot question is how meeting in personal capacity was hard to digest for JKNPP on November 7 but same was digestible after only two days and decision was revoked. “It simply explains the confusion prevailing within the party. It also signals towards an apprehension that the rank and file of the party are not at same platform over the decision making process”, a politician said, adding that it is a bedrock of a democracy of holding meetings or discussions with the staunch political rivals. If any political party claims to be a democratic, then merely meeting those, who have been holding opposite views, should not be equated with anti-nationalism. “The JKNPP is an old party with a mature leadership but taking such decisions that too under the influence of rhetoric generated by some media organizations is not going to do any good for a mature political party and the leadership should seriously think before taking decisions as the confused leadership cannot counter a highly disciplined force”, the politician said.“What procedure was followed by JKNPP to suspend its chief patron, whether an opportunity was given to the alleged accused to put forth his opinion or not?, these are some of the questions which should be considered seriously and are part of the party manifesto and programmes. It is beyond understanding as which rule was followed for suspension and revocation, it should be made public and explained”, the politician said, adding that such rules are not followed in the family run parties. |
