SKUAST-J conducts Village Visit, Revisit programme | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Nov 12: Scientists of SKUAST J under the guidance of Dr J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST J visited the Mandal village of district Samba under village visit and revisit programme. Scientists interacted with the farming community and addressed their various problems. The programe is conducted under the supervision of Dr Rakesh Nanda, Head, and Division of Agriculture Extension Education. The programme was started with a brief introduction of all the Scientist by Dr Vinod Gupta, Team Coordinator & Sr Scientist and Head, KVK Samba. Dr. Gupta welcomed all participants and discussed about the mandates and functions of KVK. His focus of discussion was on formation of farmer producer organisations. The youth were advised to get special training on flower nursery, seed production, organic farming and vertical gardenin. Dr. Anish Yadav, Professor Animal Parasitology, focused his discussion on different parasites which are very harmful for milking animals and advised the importance of deworming in animal. Dr. Parashant Bakshi, Associate Professor, Horticulture advised the fruit growers to control mango malformation on community basis and suggested them to cut the infected flower and leaf bunches and burn them. He advised farmers to spray the plants with 200 ppm NAA (200 mg per litre) in this month control malformation in mango. Dr.Vivak M. Arya, Soil Scientist, emphasized on the importance of soil testing and balanced fertilization. Dr. Arya urged the farmers to use cover crop, residue incorporation, perimeter runoff control method and other soil and water conservation technologies for conserving water. |
