SRINAGAR, Nov 12: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 617 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 00,968. With eight fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus reached 1566 in the union territory. Srinagar district reported 153 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 93 cases, Baramulla district 62 cases, Budgam district 43 cases, Udhampur district 35 cases, Anantnag district 34 cases, Bandipora district 29 cases, Kupwara, Ganderbal and Kishtwar districts 22 cases each, Pulwama district 18 cases, Kathua district 16 cases, Doda district 15 cases, Ramban district 13 cases, Rajouri district nine cases, Poonch and Samba districts eight cases each, Reasi district seven cases, Kulgam district six cases and Shopian district two cases. Srinagar, Jammu and Baramulla districts reported two fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death each in Kupwara and Kishtwar districts. So far 1,039 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 527. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 617 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 226 from Jammu division and 391 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 00,968. Also eight COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 511 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 236 from Jammu Division and 275 from Kashmir Division. Out of 1, 00,968 positive cases, 5,578 are active positive, 93,824 have recovered and 1,566 have died; 527 in Jammu division and 1,039 in Kashmir division. Out of 25, 78,555 test results available, 24, 77,587 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 7, 03,126 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 16,932 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 5,578 in isolation and 41,700 in home surveillance. Besides, 6, 37,350 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 20,998 positive cases, 1,499 active positive, 19,112 recovered, 387 deaths; Baramulla has 6,656 positive cases, 700 active positive, 5,801 recovered, 155 deaths; Budgam has 6,388 positive cases, 327 active positive, 5,966 recovered, 95 deaths; Pulwama has 4,822 positive cases, 137 active positive, 4,601 recovered, 84 deaths; Kupwara has 4,756 positive cases, 450 active positive, 4,229 recovered, 77 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,393 positive cases, 218 active positive, 4,100 recovered, 75 deaths; Bandipora has 4,204 positive cases, 173 active positive, 3,983 recovered, 48 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,869 positive cases, 309 active positive, 3,525 recovered, 35 deaths; Kulgam has 2,539 positive cases, 86 active positive, 2,405 recovered, 48 deaths and Shopian has 2,268 positive cases, 91 active positive, 2,142 recovered, 35 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 18,749 positive cases, 614 active positive, 17,860 recovered, 275 deaths; Rajouri has 3,291 positive cases, 93 active positive, 3,150 recovered, 48 deaths; Udhampur has 2,942 positive cases, 223 active positive, 2,686 recovered, 33 deaths; Doda has 2,770 positive cases, 114 active positive, 2607 recovered, 49 deaths; Kathua has 2,567 positive cases, 71 active positive, 2,463 recovered, 33 deaths. "Poonch has 2,328 positive cases, 76 active positive, 2,230 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,247 positive cases, 73 active positive, 2,149 recovered, 25 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,116 positive cases, 139 active positive, 1,961 recovered, 16 deaths; Ramban has 1,715 positive cases, 110 active positive, 1,587 recovered, 18 deaths and Reasi has 1,350 positive cases, 75 active positive, 1,267 recovered, eight deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 00,968 positive cases in J&K, 10,179 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
