POONCH, Nov 12: The Community Information Centre (CIC) at Block Development Office Mendhar is non-functional for about last Ten years.
The CIC is not functional since 2010, when a major fire in Mendhar Town engulfed large number of Government buildings including CIC, Block Mendhar in which everything including computers was damaged, no initiative was taken by the concerned authorities to restore the CIC.
Since then, the premises of CIC is locked and out of the two contractual employees that were working in the CIC, one left the job mid-way while the other is still drawing salary for no work, the sources said.
In the absence of CIC, the student community of the area particularly the aspirants of various competitive examinations have been suffering severely. Moreover, working of Panchayats is also suffering due to non-functioning of CIC.
When contacted, Assistant Commissioner Development Poonch Rajesh Lakhan said, "We have taken up the issue with BDO Mendhar Ayaz Bhatt, and hoped that positive steps would be taken soon to make the CIC functional again."
ACD Poonch in his response said that he has written several letters to the Government in this concern and hoped an early restoration of the CIC for public welfare. |
