Ensure concerted efforts to rehabilitate displaced Saddal village inhabitants: DB | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 12: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the displaced inhabitants of village Saddal in tehsil Mongri of Udhampur district, which was devastated due to landslide in the year 2014, A Division Bench of J&K High Court, Jammu Wing directed respondents to ensure that every effort is made to accommodate all these villagers in village Mansar. The writ petition has been necessitated on account of the failure of the respondents to take any steps to rehabilitate the landslide affected families for the past over five years. The Division Bench of J&K High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Sindhu Sharma after hearing Adv Deepika Mahajan for the PIL whereas AAG Aseem Sawhney for the UT, directed respondents to ensure that every effort is made to accommodate all these villagers in village Mansar as has been submitted by counsel for the petitioner. They shall be given benefits under all State sponsored Schemes including benefits available under Prime Minister Awas Yojana, if same is applicable to them. The respondents shall ensure that to the extent possible villagers are accommodated in Village Mansar. In case there is shortage of space then the respondents may additionally rehabilitate the leftover villagers in village Debrahin. —JNF |
