JEHANGIR RASHID Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 8: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 470 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 14,038. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,761 as six deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. Jammu district reported 161 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 74 cases, Budgam district 43 cases, Rajouri district 24 cases, Baramulla and Udhampur districts 21 cases each, Kupwara district 20 cases, Samba district 16 cases, Kishtwar district 14 cases, Doda and Kathua districts 13 cases each, Ganderbal district 12 cases, Pulwama district 10 cases, Ramban district nine cases, Anantnag district seven cases, Bandipora district six cases and Poonch & Reasi districts three cases each. Budgam, Kupwara, Anantnag, Doda, Ramban and Kathua districts each reported one fresh Corona Virus death. So far 1,133 virus related deaths have been reported in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 628 such deaths have taken place up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 470 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 277 from Jammu division and 193 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 14,038. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Moreover, 524 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 302 from Jammu division and 222 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 14,038 positive cases, 4,995 are active positive, 1, 07,282 have recovered and 1,761 have died; 628 in Jammu division and 1,133 in Kashmir division. Out of 32, 18,875 test results available, 31, 04,837 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 11,256 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 21,954 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 4,995 in isolation and 28,351 in home surveillance. Besides, 7, 54,195 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 23,825 positive cases, 1,158 active positive, 22,240 recovered, 427 deaths; Baramulla has 7,626 positive cases, 170 active positive, 7,291 recovered, 165 deaths; Budgam has 7,172 positive cases, 303 active positive, 6,765 recovered, 104 deaths; Kupwara has 5,290 positive cases, 195 active positive, 5,009 recovered, 86 deaths; Pulwama has 5,217 positive cases, 170 active positive, 4,961 recovered, 86 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,627 positive cases, 116 active positive, 4,430 recovered, 81 deaths; Bandipora has 4,498 positive cases, 120 active positive, 4,323 recovered, 55 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,298 positive cases, 164 active positive, 4,094 recovered, 40 deaths; Kulgam has 2,614 positive cases, 61 active positive, 2,501 recovered, 52 deaths and Shopian has 2,391 positive cases, 76 active positive, 2,278 recovered, 37 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 21,665 positive cases, 825 active positive, 20,522 recovered, 318 deaths; Udhampur has 3,857 positive cases, 404 active positive, 3,401 recovered, 52 deaths; Rajouri has 3,632 positive cases, 227 active positive, 3,355 recovered, 50 deaths; Doda has 3,242 positive cases, 171 active positive, 3,013 recovered, 58 deaths; Kathua has 2,924 positive cases, 105 active positive, 2,776 recovered, 43 deaths. "Kishtwar has 2,616 positive cases, 228 active positive, 2367 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,585 positive cases, 256 active positive, 2,296 recovered, 33 deaths; Poonch has 2,413 positive cases, 40 active positive, 2,351 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,004 positive cases, 85 active positive, 1,898 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,542 positive cases, 121 active positive, 1,411 recovered, 10 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 14,038 positive cases in J&K, 10,922 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
