Many Cong leaders test COVID positive, party questions time of DDCs elections | | | Early Times Report jammu, Dec 10: Congress on Thursday questioned decision of the Union Government to conduct first-ever District Development Councils (DDCs) elections in J&K amid pandemic. Party raised this question after many Congress leaders tested Corona positive while campaigning for the party in different areas. "Decision to hold DDCs elections during Corona situation was wrong", AICC incharge J&K, Rajni Patil said and informed that Pradesh Mahila Congress president and Pradesh Youth Congress president got infected while campaigning for party candidates in these elections. She also informed that veteran party leader and two-time Lok Sabha member, Madan Lal Sharma also got infected. She said that why the Assembly election can't be held to restore an elected Govt. to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, if such a direct election to the DDCs are being held, even ignoring the covid-19 situation. Rajni Patil questioned why early Assembly elections should not be held to give opportunity to the people to have their elected government when such a big electoral exercise of direct election is being held to the DDCs. She said that the government went for these polls, abruptly, during the ongoing covid-19 situation putting the life of the people and the political workers to risk as a result many of the senior leaders including of the Congress party have got infected during the campaigning. |
