Fearing defeat Omar, Mehbooba charge administration with helping BJP in Valley | | | Early Times Report jammu, Dec 10: With the completion of the fifth phase of eight-phased District Development Councils (DDCs) elections, the two main opposition parties- National Conference and PDP, have alleged that official machinery was helping BJP in these polls. Allegations labeled by these parties have fueled speculations that they are not going to get a majority of seats from Kashmir Valley due to many rebel candidates. Charging officials with helping BJP to win DDCs elections is a reflection that the leaderships of two main parties of J&K are not sure about victory of their candidates in these elections. Both the parties are contesting the DDCs elections jointly under the banner of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) and leadership of this amalgam had claimed that they will easily win all the seats from Kashmir Valley. "Security forces have cordoned Matribugh in Shopian and are not allowing people to come out to vote under the pretext of inputs about presence of militants. In a brazen display of power, armed forces are being used to rig this election and favour a particular party", PDP president Mehbooba Mufti alleged. Echoing in similar voice, NC leader and former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah tweeted, "The keepers of the law are more than happy to become law breakers if it serves their interest of cosying up to the BJP and it's offshoots in Kashmir. The entire machinery of the administration has taken upon itself the responsibility of helping the BJP in the DDC polls." |
