Maiden meeting of TB Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee held

JAMMU, Dec 10: An Introductory meeting of TB Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee of District Jammu was held here today. The District Tuberculosis Centre Jammu is first to constitute and conduct the meeting of TB Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee.
The meeting was chaired by Additional District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar (Chairperson). At the outset, the Member Secretary, Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal gave introduction of the Committee members and spoke about the active agenda of Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee. She highlighted the salient features of National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) and the objectives of the Co-ordination Committee. She also spoke regarding tuberculosis and its remedial aspects. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. J P Singh appreciated the constitution of TB Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee and stressed on COVID screening of TB patients, while Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Suman Gupta assured involvement of BMOs to facilitate maximum tests for achieving the goal of eradication of TB by 2025. The DTO Jammu emphasised on screening of all TB patients for HIV and people with different disease for TB. The DTO Jammu put up the idea of giving mask to every TB patient. Dr. Rajeshwer, Medical Superintendent Chest Disease Hospital emphasized on Screening of TB in diseases like kidney disease, cancer, COPD and patients on Steroids as they have lower immunity. Dr. Chaderlekha, District Health Officer/ Nodal Officer NACP assured screening of all HIV patients and spreading of awareness among the General Public . Dr. Mridula Singh, District Nodal Officer NTCP assured training of paramedical staff for better implementation of objectives of TB Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee
The ADDC directed the forum members to expedite the screening at Block Level, keeping record of monthly achievements and conducting frequent awareness programmes
Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal presented vote of thank and assured quarterly review of TB Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee meetings.
